The Raptor Center (TRC) provides two, one-year internship training programs for postgraduate veterinary professionals interested in advancing their skills in avian and wildlife medicine.

Interns learn numerous new skills including avian medicine, orthopedic surgery, and evaluating a patient for its readiness for release to the wild. TRC also hosts one part-time veterinary intern through the Partners for Wildlife (P4W) initiative. The P4W intern spends half of their time at TRC, and half at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota. This unique program gives interns the opportunity to work and learn at two respected wildlife rehabilitation centers that care for all native species of wildlife.

Tracy Swanson, DVM, and Michael Huffaker, DVM, are joining TRC in July 2021. Swanson plans to specialize in wildlife conservation. Huffaker plans to specialize in avian and exotic animal medicine. Racheal Amato, DVM, is the P4W intern and plans to work with free-ranging wildlife.
